REALTORS: To Succeed, Set Rejection as a Goal

Anyone working in sales knows about rejection rates, dry spells, and the loss of motivation. To toughen herself against negativity, writer Kiki Schirr set a goal: She would earn 100 rejections in 2018. As a writer, Schirr knows that turnaround times for story submissions can take some time and started applying to other opportunities, such as grants and scholarships, marketing jobs, and writing. But with less than half of 2018 gone, she realized, "this collecting rejection thing isn't actually working." "At this rate, I won't be able to achieve my goal ... because many of my responses are acceptances! Take more chances," Schirr tweeted on May 27. Many of her particular bullet points point to opportunities for writers, but she lauds Twitter as "the most amazing tool to meet new people" and reminds all in sales, "Everyone motivates themselves in different ways, so learn what works for you by experimenting. "What started as a whimsical experiment began to morph into a mindset," Schirr says. Source: "My Rejection Experiment Was a Failure!" Medium.com (May 29, 2018)
