Some places may be more inspiring than others for keeping your goals on track for the new year.Realtor.com®’s research team analyzed the 100 largest U.S. metros to figure out where it’s easiest for residents to keep their top new year’s resolutions, like getting healthier, putting finances in order, improving their minds, or setting out to find adventure. To determine the best places to get healthy, the research team looked at the number of gyms per capita; percentage of realtor.com® home listings with pools or gyms; nutritionist businesses; fitness and instruction businesses; yoga studios; and obesity rates. The top-ranking places to get healthy are:
  1. Miami
  2. Boston
  3. San Diego
To determine the best places to get financially fit, realtor.com®’s research team factored in the median home listing prices from realtor.com; income, sales, and property tax rates; financial advisers per capita; household income; unemployment rate; gross domestic product growth; and computer programmers per capita (used as an indicator of a tech-driven economy). The best places to get financially fit are:
  1. Provo, Utah
  2. Tampa, Fla.
  3. Indianapolis
To find the best places to improve your mind, the research team factored in public tuition rates; adult education resources per capita; bookstores; and libraries. The best places to improve your mind are:
  1. New York, N.Y.
  2. Baton Rouge, La.
  3. Knoxville, Tenn.
To determine the best places to find an adventure, the research team factored inflight departures per capita; rafting and kayaking businesses; hiking and campground businesses; the number of national parks in the state; and scuba diving businesses. The best places to find adventure are:
  1. Salt Lake City
  2. Denver
  3. Honolulu
